The Met is reopening this historical wing after a massive renovation in May
Briefly

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Michael C. Rockefeller Wing is set to reopen on May 31 after extensive renovations. The updated galleries will display 1,800 works of art from Africa, the Ancient Americas, and Oceania. Enhancements include new digital features, improved wall texts, and a layout that utilizes natural light. This renovation signifies a commitment to preserving cultural heritage and educating the public about diverse global art histories, while also presenting never-before-seen objects and new commissions by Indigenous artists.
The complete renovation of the Michael C. Rockefeller Wing reflects The Met's deep commitment to-and expertise in-preserving and expanding our knowledge of the Museum's collection.
Each collection will present objects that have never been shown before, including major new acquisitions of historic and contemporary works in the Arts of Africa galleries.
