Recent events are boosting downtown Nicosia by encouraging street life and discouraging vehicles. The built environment is being upgraded and is rising from the ground. Only a couple of designs have adopted the new scale now permitted. The Excelsior Labs tower is one of these designs. A rich programme is distributed across the tower’s vertical volume. Some parts of the programme are effectively kept from sight through a curtain wall façade. Other parts become visible through severe and delightful breaks in the rising edifice.
