"When the clients found the rooftop apartment in Prenzlauer Berg, the thing they liked the most about it was how the wind blew over the roofs from one side of the apartment to the other when all the doors to each of the rooms were open."
"There were a lot of walls making a lot of small spaces that were cut off from each other."
Clients discovered a rooftop apartment in Prenzlauer Berg and valued the flow of wind across the roofs when interior doors were open. The wind moved from one side of the apartment to the other, creating natural cross-ventilation and a sense of continuity between rooms. The existing plan contained many interior walls that divided the space into numerous small rooms. Those walls produced isolated, cut-off areas that hindered the open airflow and visual connection the clients appreciated. The contrast between the apartment's strong natural ventilation potential and its compartmentalized layout defined the key challenge for occupancy and redesign.
