The Navan Oxfam shop reopened after a four-week refurbishment that fully refit the shop floor and transformed the store’s layout and styling. The renovation follows the same successful concept used in Oxfam Ireland’s Holywood Superstore, which opened in 2024. The store on Trimgate Street has served the community since September 1999, with customers and supporters helping shape it over 27 years. The store manager, Bridget Walsh, began as a volunteer in 1999 and remains on the team, which has grown to around 30 volunteers. Oxfam Ireland shops support the organization’s work against poverty and inequality while promoting responsible shopping and giving donated items a second life. Secondhand purchases raise money and support people affected by the climate crisis.
"The renovation, involving a full refit of the shop floor, is based on the same successful concept and styling as Oxfam Ireland's Holywood Superstore, which opened in 2024. The Navan shop, located on Trimgate Street, has been part of the local community since September 1999, with customers and supporters helping to shape the store and its location throughout the last 27 years."
"Oxfam Navan store manager Bridget Walsh was part of only a handful of volunteers in 1999 and remains part of the team today, with now 30 volunteers in total. She said many volunteers are still part of the journey. "We opened the Navan shop with just a handful of volunteers back in 1999, and today we have built that up to around 30 volunteers. Many of them have been with us for a long time and have been a huge part of the shop's success in Navan.""
""We've built up a very loyal customer base over the years, and many people have told us how excited they are to see the refurbished store," she said. Director of trading at Oxfam Ireland, Trevor Anderson said: "The Navan Oxfam store has gone through many changes since its opening over 25 years ago, but one thing that has not changed is its hard-working team of loyal volunteers - guided and inspired by their leader, Bridget. "We are confident the investment we are making in the Navan store will attract even more volunteers, customers and donors.""
"Oxfam Ireland shops play a vital role in supporting the global organisation's work to tackle poverty and inequality, while also promoting responsible shopping and giving high-quality donated items a second life. By buying and donating second hand clothes with Oxfam, people are not only shopping more sustainably but also raising money to support people facing the worst effects of the climate crisis."
