Muswell Hill Library closed in June 2023 for refurbishment expected to last a year. Delays have now postponed its reopening to early autumn. Local resident Meredith Gurwith expressed frustration over unanswered inquiries regarding the opening date. The refurbishment includes a new lift, accessible toilets, reconfigured floorplan, new lighting, furniture, and interior redecoration, backed by a £4.9 million investment from Haringey Council. Council member Cllr Emily Arkell noted the reopening would be contingent on revised operating hours and staffing levels across libraries due to financial challenges.
