My favourite room: Top photographer Giles Norman has mixed work and relaxation by living above his gallery in a four-storey Georgian building in West Cork
Briefly

Giles Norman and Catherine's home in Kinsale is a repurposed above-shop space, consisting of a gallery on the ground floor and their stunning apartment above. Transitioning to a smaller space can be challenging for couples; decisions on what to retain from a former home become crucial. For Catherine, the dining table and chairs, sourced from Linehans Design and made from timbers from a convent, held irreplaceable memories of their children's upbringing, making it an essential piece to keep.
"We bought the dining table and chairs from Linehans Design in Cork and the timbers came from the Ursuline convent in Drishane in Millstreet. It has all the memories of my children growing up eating at it, doing their homework on it and I didn't want it to go," says Catherine with more than a hint of nostalgia, not surprisingly as all three kids have flown the nest.
Giles Norman and his wife Catherine's home in Kinsale is a repurposed above-shop space - so while the ground floor is a gallery, above it is their stunning apartment.
