Maison Legere: Restoring Balance and Harmony in France (Donkeys Included) - Remodelista
"In November of the same year, we signed Maison Légère, and in December we created Superchinerie. The reset of our life had begun."
"added extra, there were already two donkeys living here, which we wanted to adopt, so we took that as a sign."
"It is the combination that gives us balance,"
A ten-day trip to Lanzarote inspired a French couple to pursue a slower, nature-centered life and embrace ecological design principles. The couple adopted ideas from César Manrique and returned determined to reinvent themselves. They purchased Maison Légère in the Perche Sarthois, self-renovated it over three years, and launched a secondhand tableware business called Superchinerie. They now divide time between Paris’s Haut Marais and their rural home to balance urban energy and rural seclusion. Maison Légère operates as a seven-person, eco-conscious vacation rental aimed at helping guests slow down and reconnect with nature.
