Kitchen of the Week: Very Simple Kitchen at Formafantasma's Italian House

"Soon after completing the space, the pair turned their attention to their home: a third-floor apartment in a 1930s building near Stazione Centrale. In a 1970s-inflected dining room furnished with a Marcel Breuer chairs, a stainless-steel kitchen by Very Simple: Kitchen anchors the space-another study in restraint, but with a different edge."

"At home, the designers integrated the stainless-steel model of Very Simple: Kitchen in addition to custom cabinetry in cherry and yellow-painted wood. On the counter are containers from Bordallo Pinheiro."

Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin of Formafantasma returned to Milan in 2022 and renovated two kitchens in their studio and apartment. Their studio kitchen, located in a renovated industrial complex on Via Assab, features pale yellow cabinetry paired with ExCinere collection tiles developed for Dzek. Their apartment kitchen, in a 1930s building near Stazione Centrale, incorporates a stainless-steel Very Simple: Kitchen model alongside custom cherry and yellow-painted wood cabinetry. Both spaces demonstrate restrained design principles with carefully considered material and color palettes, including vintage furnishings like Marcel Breuer chairs and lighting by Castiglioni and Noguchi.
