Asheville successfully revised its action plan to align with the Trump administration's funding criteria, enabling it to receive critical federal recovery funds. The city's plan includes allocations for infrastructure, economic revitalization, housing, and public services, totaling over $125 million. While the plan has been approved, Asheville is still awaiting HUD's final certification of its financial and management practices before receiving the funds. Mayor Esther Manheimer expressed gratitude towards HUD and emphasized the importance of the funding for the community amid ongoing conversations with HUD for compliance.
Asheville has already submitted all of the documentation necessary for HUD and is awaiting certification. Once certified, HUD will distribute a grant agreement.
We moved quickly because we understand how critical this funding is for our community, Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer said in a statement.
