The Fargo Police Department plans to establish a remote work station at Scheels on 45th St. South. This station aims to enable officers to perform essential tasks such as completing reports and taking breaks while remaining in their patrol areas. Police Chief David Zibolski emphasizes that this initiative will incur no costs to the city thanks to the partnership with Scheels. The remote work station differs from a sub-station as it does not store evidence or conduct interviews. Future plans include constructing a new police headquarters and three substations to address community growth and improve response times.
The need for a functional space where officers can remain in their assigned beats while completing reports, taking breaks, and addressing basic needs, has become increasingly critical.
Through a partnership with Scheels, this new space can be created without any direct cost to the City.
This new remote work station allows officers to use the restroom, eat lunch and do paperwork without leaving their patrol area.
Growth over the next 20 years necessitates the construction of a new, larger headquarters as well as several other changes to keep pace.
