'Common sense' to delay Housing Plan until review of National Development Plan complete, housing minister says
Briefly

Taoiseach Micheál Martin announced a delay in the housing plan's publication, pushing it beyond the originally expected July deadline to possibly September. This plan is crucial as it outlines the government’s approach to meeting housing targets. Minister Browne mentioned that despite the delay, the government is actively implementing measures weekly to tackle the housing crisis. Additionally, the formation of the Housing Activation Office (HAO) is progressing, although the appointment of its head remains uncertain following the withdrawal of a candidate. Browne noted that the HAO is just one component of a broader strategy for addressing housing issues.
The housing plan has been delayed past July, with publication now possibly extending into September, as the government navigates NDP completion and housing targets.
Mr. Browne emphasized the government's proactive stance, stating they are implementing measures weekly to address the housing crisis, independent of the housing plan's finalization.
Minister Browne mentioned the new Housing Activation Office is being established, although the head of the office has yet to be confirmed following the withdrawal of Brendan McDonagh.
While the head of the Housing Activation Office is significant, Mr. Browne clarified that it is not essential for immediate housing activation efforts.
