Owner requirements for a 680-square-foot West Village co-op included revealing an original vaulted ceiling, a living area spanning two windows, a dedicated workspace, storage for two bicycles, an expanded kitchen, and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. The apartment previously felt dark and compressed with low ceilings and an awkward step into the bathroom. All interior finishes were removed and rebuilt to free the vaulted ceiling and reconfigure the plan. Three freestanding white oak millwork volumes organize entry, kitchen, dining, living, and sleeping areas while incorporating closets, deep storage, display shelves, desk space, and pocket doors. New white oak floors, custom cabinetry, an expanded kitchen, and a renovated bath complete the renovation. Tight, quarter-inch tolerances and precise built-ins maximize storage and function within limited square footage.
