""I love the juxtaposition of the bathroom to the drama of the rest of the apartment,""
""The other rooms are dark and moody while the bathroom is light and serene. It gives elegance and drama in its own way while being timeless.""
""The contractor wasn't comfortable moving the plumbing to an exterior wall, so after much debate and brainstorming, we decided to install a fixed glass piece with a smaller 'door' that would allow Amanda the ability to reach the fixture from outside the tub,""
Amanda Mactas renovated her Manhattan one-bedroom, keeping the original footprint but gutting the interior. She chose dark, dramatic paint for the living room and bedroom and bright white for the bathroom to create a contrasting, serene space. Pro designer Kim Liptak emphasized the bathroom's lightness and timeless elegance against the moody other rooms. The bathroom overhaul replaced the small vanity, dropped ceiling, dated tile, and a hard-to-reach shower fixture. Plumbing constraints prevented moving lines to an exterior wall, so the team installed a fixed glass panel with a smaller door for easier access. The shower now features gold hardware and Carrara Italian marble tile.
