Before & After: This '90s Beige Bathroom Now Looks Boutique-Hotel
"It was functional, but it lacked any personality, with floor-to-ceiling beige tile, a brown mosaic border, and a hideous ... ceiling,"
"The toilet was on a tiled platform. It was a cold room, as it was on an external wall and there was no radiator."
"I wanted a herringbone tile on the wall, and blue and pink are the perfect combination!"
Katheryn and her husband Graeme transformed a beige, dated downstairs bathroom last updated in the 1990s or early 2000s. They removed a blocked window, took down the ceiling, replaced joists, and fitted a new floor. A professional tiler installed patterned blue and pink Ca'Pietra floor tiles while the homeowners laid pink herringbone wall tile themselves and handled plumbing work. The toilet platform and brown mosaic border were removed to add personality. The couple added heated blue tile floors to improve comfort and chose light, bright colors to compensate for the loss of natural light.
