AUSD Notes: Several projects expected done by Alameda school year's end
"The upgrades to Alameda High School's Kofman Auditorium should be completed in December. That project includes replacing the venue's production lighting and controls; improving the audiovisual system; building four new backstage dressing rooms; replacing the stage fire curtain and balcony guardrails; and installing new battens for hanging heavy drapery above the stage. Also in December, we expect the new athletic field at Encinal High School to be complete."
"This project includes a new turf field; regulation track; new lights; new bleachers and a press box; and facilities for field events. We understand that some community members were hoping the field would be open by Nov. 7 for the Island Bowl but finishing touches will still be in the works then. The new Alameda High swim center, scheduled to open next summer, will include a competition swimming pool and practice pool;"
Alameda Unified School District expects Kofman Auditorium upgrades and Encinal High School's new athletic field to be completed in December. Auditorium work replaces production lighting and controls, improves the audiovisual system, adds four backstage dressing rooms, replaces the stage fire curtain and balcony guardrails, and installs new battens for heavy drapery. Encinal's project adds a turf field, regulation track, new lights, bleachers, a press box, and field-event facilities; finishing touches will prevent use for the Nov. 7 Island Bowl. Alameda High's new swim center will open next summer with competition and practice pools, lighting, scoreboard, fencing, and mechanical upgrades. Wood Middle School's new campus buildings are expected for the 2026-27 school year, with Otis Elementary temporarily housed at the former Lum Elementary site.
