Asoka Hospital South Wing occupies 1005 m² in Tokyo and was completed in 2024. The project interprets the Japanese art of Kintsugi as an "Architecture of Regeneration," using repair and visible mending as a spatial and therapeutic strategy. The design aims to restore the connection between patients and everyday life by embedding healing narratives and material continuity into the hospital environment. Lead architects are Jun Sawada and Kazuhiro Naganuma with a lead team including Tetsuya Tanabe, Ayuko Sato, and Mizuho Takenaka. Structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering were provided by Shuji Tada Structural Design, EOS plus, and Uni Mechanical & Electrical Engineers. Photography by Takumi Ota.
