Affordable housing development moves forward for vacant lot in Boerum Hill
Briefly

The Nevins, a new affordable housing development in Boerum Hill, will consist of a 10-story building with 70 apartments. Seventy percent of these units will be accessible through the Housing Connect lottery. The remaining thirty percent are designated for families transitioning out of shelters. The project, a collaboration between the Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the Fifth Avenue Committee, will also feature a public garden. Early community feedback has been positive, highlighting the need for affordable housing in the area and the community benefits of green space.
"This will contribute to lower-cost housing because all of us are like, to the edge here," she said.
"We specifically designed it to be a resource for tenants and the community," said Michelle de la Uz, executive director of the Fifth Avenue Committee.
