The bathroom is a pivotal part of any home, and renovating it can greatly improve both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Updated bathrooms, designed to meet modern needs, can significantly increase property value. The cost of remodeling ranges between approximately $6,639 and $17,621, influenced by various factors such as location and project complexity. Current trends emphasize aging-in-place design features and stylish upgrades, such as lighter color palettes and functional storage solutions, making bathrooms not only more beautiful but also more efficient and user-friendly.
"Functionally, we are starting to see many changes related to aging-in-place design, such as tub conversions to barrier-free walk-in showers, taller vanity cabinets, and comfort-height commodes," says Robert De Torres, vice president of construction and facilities at Tobin in Hollywood, FL. De Torres also explains that built-in closets are no longer efficient and are being replaced with more functional, more attractive linen towers, which take up less space and can make the bathroom feel much larger.
"Designwise, the trend continues with luxurious, lighter colors and light to warm tones, with natural wood accents contrasting the natural stone counters and tiles. Once again, durable and warm-toned teak accents are starting to take hold, especially with teak shower benches," says De Torres.
"The average cost of a bathroom remodel ranges from $6,639 to $17,621, according to Angi. Of course, factors like your location, the size of your bathroom, the features, and the complexity of your project will all dictate your overall cost."
"According to the latest figures from the National Association of Realtors, bathroom renovations recoup around 50% of their costs."
