Untouched Since the '70s,This Renovated House's Design Details Are the Best I've Ever Seen
""There had been an older woman living alone in the house who was no longer able to care for the house. She raised her six kids and 10 pets in this house (as her oldest daughter wrote to me in our closing letter)," Yena begins. "The owners had not renovated anything in the house since probably the 1970s - and there were brown tiles everywhere. Even the dining room floor had small brown tiles on it.""
"When it came to style and aesthetics, they renovated room by room. Every bedroom was gutted and redesigned, and a primary bedroom closet was built by moving an adjacent bedroom's walls. They installed a brand-new kitchen with custom built-ins, and a fireplace was redesigned to be an inviting statement. A hall bathroom was updated beautifully, and a powder room and laundry room were created. Trim was added. The basement was transformed, and the exterior of the house was painted. And Andrew redesigned the exterior's landscape."
An older house that had not been renovated since the 1970s underwent comprehensive upgrades to make it livable and modern. Mechanical systems including electrical, HVAC, and windows were updated and a drainage system was installed after Hurricane Ida. Renovations proceeded room by room: every bedroom was gutted and redesigned, a primary closet was added by shifting walls, and a new kitchen with custom built-ins was installed. A fireplace was redesigned as a focal point, a hall bathroom was updated, and new powder and laundry rooms were created. The basement was transformed, exterior trim and paint were applied, and the landscape was redesigned.
