"As Apartment Therapy's Home Projects Editor, Sarah Everett is no stranger to a DIY. And when it's time to decorate for the holidays, that means crafting festive touches that suit her subtle style. "I like pine garlands and pops of red - I'm a big believer in unexpected red theory!" Sarah says. "My holiday decor is festive with some sparkle, but not over-the-top: something that matches my other home decor, not totally replaces it.""
"A swag wreath consists of a simple bundle of branches rather than a shaped form, giving a classic antique style moment. And when you hang them with Command™ Brand Hooks, they're also simple to take down without harming your walls or paint! Command™ Brand Products feature a damage-free adhesive that gives you a strong hold when you need it and a clean break when you're done. Here's how Sarah made her swag wreath."
Create a classic swag wreath by bundling evergreen branches, securing them with floral wire, and adding small bells or ornaments tied on with thin velvet ribbon. Trim bundles to varied lengths and fullness and hide the binding under the top foliage. Thread ribbon through ornament loops and tie them to the wire, then wrap a ribbon around the wire and finish with a bow. Wipe the hanging area with rubbing alcohol and use a Command™ Large Brushed Nickel Hook for a strong, damage-free hold that removes cleanly when taken down.
