A sustainable timber house is sited directly in the city of Mainz. The new structure replaces an existing semi-detached house that could not be reused because of minimal ceiling heights, severe structural damage, and the presence of harmful substances. The project prioritizes sustainability through timber construction and remediation of hazardous materials. The replacement resolves spatial and health deficiencies of the previous building while responding to urban context and local building constraints.
