The Crismina fort is one of three 18th-century forts in the Cascais coastal defense line built after the conflict between Portugal and Spain. The fort is essentially an enclosed empty space bounded by irregular polygonal walls of varying heights and thicknesses, many sections partly deteriorated by wind erosion and atmospheric exposure. The project assembles a multidisciplinary team covering structural, electrical, mechanical, acoustics, fire protection, landscape and lighting design for refurbishment and restoration. The intervention aims to stabilize and repair walls, respect original morphology, and adapt the fort for renewed use while preserving historical fabric.
