Others leave after concluding that institutions can lose their purpose, shifting away from charity, emergency help, and spiritual support. Some people also decide they do not need others to interpret life’s meaning and instead focus on everyday living and personal responsibility, while reducing influence from those who try to control beliefs and actions.
