"Derived from the Arabic word kaṣmīmī, cazimi translates to "in the heart." The term is commonly applied to the moment a planet moves into the heart of the Sun, or more specifically, within a one-degree conjunction with the Sun. A conjunction, in astrological terms, is the coming together of planets or cosmic bodies in such close proximity that they are effectively one. Their energies intertwine. Their intentions mingle. Their influence and medicine, which were two separate streams, commingle to create a singular frequency of cosmic consciousness that momentarily emanates through our star system and our bodies."
"The Sun is the center of consciousness. Situated at the center of our solar system, it is our identity, our vitality, and our life essence. Mercury, the closest planet to the Sun, rules the mind, perception, communication, mental processing, inspiration, thought, and learning. Mercury also exists in service to the Sun. But when it meets its cazimi, Mercury receives the essence of the Sun. It becomes infused with potency, consciousness, vitality, and expansion. It essentially starts a new chapter of its becoming."
Mercury cazimi occurs when Mercury moves within one degree of the Sun, placing Mercury "in the heart" of the Sun. A conjunction brings planetary energies into such close proximity that they operate as one, intertwining intentions and influence to create a singular frequency of cosmic consciousness. The Sun represents identity, vitality, and life essence, while Mercury governs mind, perception, communication, and learning. When Mercury meets its cazimi, it receives the Sun's essence, becoming infused with potency, consciousness, vitality, and expansion. This alignment prompts renewal of mental clarity and the beginning of a new chapter of becoming. Astrology frames this as part of an interconnected cosmic system.
