Futurism Is Broken | HackerNoon
Briefly

Futurism, representing the fields of futurology and foresight strategy, is argued to be increasingly irrelevant, with many organizations like the Association of Professional Futurists showing signs of decline. Membership cancellations indicate a lack of value in the community. The World Future Society, once a foundational organization for the profession, is now mostly forgotten, its legacy reduced to a ghost online represented by failed web domains. The tools and methods that were once influential in shaping foresight practices are now part of a questionable history, overshadowed by disarray in the community.
The ultimate irony is that the true World Future Society now exists only in the Wayback Machine, consigned to a hidden history that, in a few years, nobody will remember to look up, let alone.
I took a stroll through the Association of Professional Futurists website and community, knowing from others' feedback what I'd find: a lost organisation filled with protectionism, an unwilling community, and a lot of cancelled memberships that no longer find value in paying to just wear the AFP badge.
