Ukraine updates: Peace talks put to test at UAE meeting
"A late-Thursday evening meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US envoy Steve Witkoff has ended. The talks went on for more than three hours, the Kremlin said in a statement early Friday. Witkoff was accompanied by US President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner as well as another envoy. Putin appeared alongside his foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, and his envoy for international economic affairs, Kirill Dmitriev. No details of the outcome were initially disclosed."
"Friday's meeting in the UAE comes just a day after Trump met Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. Trump called the talk with Zelenskyy "good," adding that it was an "ongoing process." For his part, Zelenskyy said that the terms of postwar security guarantees for Ukraine were finalized. But, he said, the issue of territory remains unsolved."

Russian and Ukrainian negotiators will meet there with the United States as a mediator. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his team was en route and that security guarantees were finalized while territorial issues remain unresolved.
