Indonesia and China agree to deepen maritime and security ties
Briefly

Indonesia and China have strengthened their maritime cooperation, committing to increased security and safety in the South China Sea following their first joint foreign and defense minister meeting in Beijing. Despite Indonesia's concerns over Chinese activities near the Natuna Islands, both nations aim to promote infrastructure development, mineral extraction, and maritime security. Recent agreements and initiatives reflect growing military collaboration, including Indonesia's enhanced maritime patrols in response to illegal fishing by Chinese boats. This partnership aims to ensure peace and stability in the contested waters, also involving France's new initiative for Indo-Pacific security.
We will enhance law enforcement and security cooperation to jointly combat transnational cooperation.
Safeguarding peace and stability in the South China Sea is in line with the interests of all parties.
