I Don't Know What That Sentence Means': Congressman Baffled by Trump's Plan to End War
A proposal links ending the Iran war to requiring multiple Middle East countries to normalize relations with Israel by signing the Abraham Accords. The proposal names Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain, noting that some have already signed. The Abraham Accords were brokered in 2020 and involve Israel suspending annexation plans in exchange for normalization with signatories. Rep. Jake Auchincloss supports the Abraham Accords but says he does not understand what mandatory participation would mean. He suggests the main difficulty is not opposition to Iran, but expanding the accords to additional countries.

Sanchez asked. Is it actually realistic, or is it a distraction?"
"I support the Abraham Accords. I think the Abraham Accords were a credible achievement of the first Trump administration. And I don't know what that sentence means, though. The challenge with the Abraham Accords expansion is not that these countries share an aversion to Iran. They always have. The challenge with the Abraham Accords has been getting Saudi Arabi"
