Dologuele and Dondra alleged widespread irregularities and sought annulment; Dologuele said there had been "a methodical attempt to manipulate" the outcome. The government denied the claims and allies unsuccessfully tried to disqualify the challengers over alleged foreign citizenship. The Constitutional Court must rule on appeals and declare final results by January 20. Security has been emphasized during Touadera's decade in office, with Russian mercenaries and Rwandan soldiers deployed, including mercenaries patrolling Bangui.
