Zelenskyy vows to only use Tomahawks against Russian military targets
"Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said his country would only use long-range Tomahawk missiles against Russian military targets, as the Kremlin expressed alarm over Washington's potential plan to offer the weapons to Kyiv."
"On Monday, Trump said he would only agree to provide Kyiv with Tomahawks if he knew what it planned to do with them. He added, without giving further details, that he had sort of made a decision over the issue."
"Now is really a very dramatic moment in terms of the fact that tensions are escalating from all sides," he told Russian state television reporter Pavel Zarubin."
"As the agreement reached in Gaza offers a glimmer of hope for peace in the Middle East, the war in Ukraine too must come to an end. If Russia persists in its obstinate warmongering and its refusal to come to the negotiating table, it will have to pay the price, he said."
The Kremlin warned that providing Kyiv with US-built long-range missiles risks escalation, noting some versions can carry nuclear warheads. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine would use Tomahawk missiles only against Russian military targets and reported productive talks with US President Donald Trump about air defence, resilience, and long-range capabilities. Trump said he would only supply Tomahawks if he understood Kyiv's plans and indicated he had nearly reached a decision. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called the topic extremely concerning and warned tensions are escalating. French President Emmanuel Macron condemned Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and urged an end to the war.
