Jacques Nienaber has signed a contract extension as Leinster’s defence coach that runs until the end of the 2027 club season. The timing of that contract could, in theory, free Nienaber to rejoin the national coaching setup after the club season finishes. Nienaber was part of the coaching group that helped South Africa win the last two World Cups. A return would reunite an experienced defence coach with the Springboks before the 2027 tournament.
