"At least five people have died in central Vietnam after Typhoon Kalmaegi pounded the country with torrential rain and high winds, officials said Friday. Three of the deaths were reported in the province of Dak Lak, while two people were killed in Gia Lai. Three people, meanwhile, were missing in the coastal province of Quang Ngai, Vietnamese state media said."
"The storm uprooted trees and downed power lines, leaving some 1.6 million households without power. It also caused dozens of homes to collapse and severely damaged or blew the roofs off of over 2,600 others. Vietnamese authorities have warned of continued torrential rains, with forecasts of up to 200 millimeters (8 inches) in the center of the country, where rising river levels have also triggered warnings of landslides and floods."
