Videos appear to show the moments U.S. fighter jets were shot down over Kuwait
"Three U.S. fighter jets, F-15E Strike Eagles involved in the operation against Iran, were shot down mistakenly by Kuwait's air defenses in "an apparent friendly fire incident," the U.S. military's Central Command said. All six crew members "ejected safely," were recovered and were in stable condition, Centcom said."
"A video, posted to social media and verified by The Washington Post, shows two aircraft crew members descending onto Kuwaiti soil with bright orange parachutes above a flaming jet. Another video, filmed 13 miles away, shows a different jet falling from the sky. A fire rages on board, sending thick black smoke into the air, charting the aircraft's final descent."
"Crowded skies and the presence of both allies and adversaries could have lead to the friendly fire, said Mark Cancian, a senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington think tank."
Three U.S. F-15E Strike Eagles were shot down over Kuwait on Monday in an apparent friendly fire incident involving Kuwait's air defenses. Videos verified by The Washington Post captured the moments of the crashes, showing crew members descending with orange parachutes and aircraft engulfed in flames. All six crew members ejected safely, were recovered, and remained in stable condition. Kuwait's Defense Ministry acknowledged the incident and stated coordination with the U.S. for investigation. Military experts confirmed the downed aircraft matched F-15 fighter jet characteristics. Crowded skies with both allied and adversarial forces present may have contributed to the mistaken engagement.
