US bombers join Japanese jets to counter China-Russia drills DW 12/11/2025
"We confirmed the strong resolve of Japan and the United States not to allow any unilateral change of the status quo by force, as well as the readiness of the Self-Defense Forces and the US military,"
"We consider it a grave concern from the standpoint of Japan's security,"
"The Japanese side has no need to make a fuss about nothing or to take this personally,"
"China's actions are not conducive to regional peace and stability,"
US B-52 bombers joined three Japanese F-35 stealth fighters and three F-15 jets on a flight over the Sea of Japan to demonstrate joint capability and deterrence. The operation followed coordinated Chinese-Russian drills that circled Japan and South Korea and a recent incident in which Chinese fighters locked radars on Japanese aircraft, a tactic signaling potential attack. Japanese forces scrambled jets to monitor the joint patrols. Beijing and Moscow described their exercises as routine, while US officials criticized China's actions as harmful to regional peace and stability. South Korea and Taiwan also increased air responses.
