US-facilitated peace talks between Ukraine and Russia resumed in Abu Dhabi on January 23-24 with Ukraine, Russia, and the United States meeting in a trilateral format. Ukraine's lead negotiator Rustem Umerov said negotiators will move into separate working groups by specific tracks, followed by a joint synchronization of positions. A White House official said US envoy Steve Witkoff will represent the United States. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia's position remains unchanged and is understood by Kyiv and American negotiators. The talks coincided with massive Russian missile and drone strikes that caused deaths and injuries.
