President Donald Trump criticized the UK for making an agreement directly with a US state and mocked Europe’s push for more wind generation at Davos. California Governor Gavin Newsom sought to reassure European allies that US federal climate policy is temporary. The UK noted existing memorandums of understanding with other US states while continuing to engage the Trump administration on nuclear power. The UK contributed $16 million to the IEA Clean Energy Transitions program and hopes the US remains in the IEA.
