Sonmez celebrated by waving to supporters and walking off wrapped in the Turkish flag while fans waved red-and-white flags. Sonmez said she would work to help people if she were not a tennis player. Her recent season included a third-round showing at Wimbledon in 2025, her best Grand Slam result.
