"Hopefully, the Israeli strike in Qatar won't affect the Gaza negotiations. We want the hostages out and we want them out soon,"
"humanitarian and diplomatic role"
The Qatari prime minister will arrive in Washington, D.C., to meet Secretary of State Rubio at the White House and is expected to meet Vice President JD Vance. He will later travel to New York for talks with former President Trump and White House envoy Steve Witkoff. Talks will include a proposed U.S.-Qatar security agreement that Doha hopes to accelerate after an Iranian strike on a U.S. base in Qatar and an Israeli strike on Hamas leaders in Doha. Qatar condemned the Israeli action while saying it will continue a "humanitarian and diplomatic role" and press for hostage releases and a ceasefire.
