Nicolas Maduro, wearing woodland camouflage, urged supporters to prepare to defend every inch of the country and invoked Simon Bolivar and religious vows. Maduro promised to protect Venezuela's skies, mountains and plains. The US has deployed a large military force in the Caribbean officially to crack down on drug trafficking. Washington accuses Maduro of heading the 'Cartel of the Suns', which was designated a foreign terrorist organization despite experts questioning its existence. Trump's precise objectives remain unclear.
