Mustafa Tafesh was a 21-year-old infielder for the Palestine National Baseball Team who helped secure second place at the 2023 West Asia Cup in Pakistan. He aspired to raise Palestine's flag internationally and competed in multiple sports, including soccer and badminton, winning the Palestinian Under-18 League Badminton Championship in 2018. He completed his education at 16, competed in local tournaments, and refereed girls' softball and baseball matches. Teammates remembered him as a morale-boosting presence who kept a smile and lifted others' spirits. On August 12, Tafesh was killed by an Israeli air strike outside his home in Sheikh Radwan, one of over 800 Palestinian athletes killed amid the Gaza genocide.
