Thai military launched airstrikes along the disputed border with Cambodia after reported cross-border clashes early Monday. The Royal Thai Army said Cambodian forces attacked Thai troops in Sisaket on Dec 7, injuring two, and reported later attacks that killed one soldier, wounded eight and hit a civilian community. Aircraft were deployed "to strike military targets in several areas to suppress Cambodian supporting fire attacks," while troops evacuated residents and the prime minister said operations would continue to defend sovereignty. Cambodia denied initiating violence, said Thai forces had struck Cambodian troops in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey, urged Thailand to stop hostile acts, and reported civilian casualties.
