Thailand and Cambodia agreed to meet through the General Border Committee to revive a collapsed ceasefire after deadly clashes entered a third week. A July ceasefire brokered by Malaysia, China and the United States unraveled in early December after two Thai soldiers were wounded. Since the breakdown, both sides have exchanged airstrikes, rockets and artillery along the 817-kilometer border, killing at least 80 people and displacing more than 900,000. Thailand demands a detailed implementation plan and firm Cambodian commitment to a "true ceasefire." Cambodia welcomed regional mediation and accused Thailand of armed aggression while vowing to defend its territory.
