Thailand and Cambodia agreed an immediate ceasefire taking effect at 12:00 local time (0500 GMT) on 27 December 2025, covering all types of weapons. The Special General Border Committee said the ceasefire prohibits attacks on civilians, civilian objects, infrastructure and military objectives. The agreement was signed by Thai Defence Minister Natthaphon Nakrphanit and Cambodian Defence Minister Tea Seiha. Both sides agreed to maintain current troop deployments without further movement, saying reinforcements would heighten tensions and harm long-term resolution efforts. The ceasefire ends 20 days of fighting that killed at least 101 people and displaced more than half a million and allows affected residents to return home.
