Syria's government signed a ceasefire deal with the Syrian Democratic Forces, a Kurdish-led armed group backed by the United States. The agreement followed Syrian military advances into northern and eastern areas long held by the SDF and a sudden push after deadly clashes earlier this month. Turkey said the pact should contribute to security and regional peace, while reiterating that Syria's future lies in unity and that it considers the SDF linked to the PKK.
