Sudan's three-year war deepens child and hunger crisis
""The reality for children in Sudan is growing darker hour by hour," said Eva Hinds, spokeswoman for UNICEF, highlighting the escalating crisis as the civil war continues."
""Going through three years of conflict, it has a massive impact on these children and women. Children's daily lives are shaped by news of death and destruction," stated Ashan Abeywardena from War Child."
""Drones are killing and wounding girls and boys in their homes, in markets, on the roads, near schools and health facilities - all places that should never be targets," emphasized UNICEF's Hinds."
""In the first three months of this year, nearly 700 civilians were reportedly killed in drone strikes," reported UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher, underscoring the civilian toll of the conflict."
The civil war in Sudan, now in its fourth year, has led to a humanitarian crisis affecting children severely. Over 13 million people have been displaced, and more than 4,300 children have been killed or injured. The conflict, which began in April 2023 between the RSF and SAF, has resulted in indiscriminate drone attacks targeting civilians. These attacks have destroyed essential infrastructure, including hospitals and schools, exacerbating the suffering of the population. The situation continues to deteriorate, impacting daily life and safety for children and families.
