Kusal Mendis top-scored with 93 as Sri Lanka posted a competitive total at the R Premadasa Stadium. Ben Duckett made 62 and Joe Root 61 in response, and Jamie Overton provided a late burst of 34 off 17 balls. England then lost eight wickets for 84 runs, with Overton's dismissal in the final over ending the chase and extending England's away ODI losing streak to 11. Adil Rashid took 3-44 and the spinners bowled well through the middle. The three-match series continues on Saturday.
