"Pathum Nissanka, no doubt buoyed by his superman catch to get rid of Maxwell, is clearly full of confidence! He steps to the off side and flicks Bartlett off his pads for SIX. Sweet timing, eight runs off the first over. Share Here come Sri Lanka's openers with a decent job of work to do. Kusal Perera and Pathum Nissanka will start off, Xavier Bartlett has the ball for Australia. Play! Share"
"Three wickets fall in the final over of the innings! Marcus Stoinis is caught in the deep and Xavier Bartlett and Adam Zampa sacrifice themselves on the altar of runs, both are run out in a mad scrabble at the end. Sri Lanka come back into the contest in the second half of the innings after Head and Marsh blitzed a century stand in the opening ten."
Australia batted strongly early as Head and Marsh compiled a century stand in the first ten overs. The middle and late overs yielded additional runs but three wickets fell in the final over as Stoinis was caught and Bartlett and Zampa were run out in a frantic finish. Australia reached 177-7 near the end of their innings. Sri Lanka opened with Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera, with Nissanka hitting a six off Bartlett. Marcus Stoinis struck early for Australia by dismissing Perera. Sri Lanka require 182 to win and secure a Super 8s berth, which would significantly jeopardize Australia's tournament prospects.
