She was the mother of four children, including the current King Vajiralongkorn. Born in Bangkok on August 12, 1932, she was the daughter of a diplomat and met Bhumibol in Paris while her father served as ambassador. Thailand's National Mother's Day is celebrated on her birthday, August 12.
