S.F.-born flotilla detainee Logan Hollarsmith to be returned, destination unknown
""I'm being held in a maximum security prison," the contact read off his notes. "I can hear bombs outside my cell. I want to know when I'll be released.""
""I'm sure you are incredibly busy and inundated with emails and calls, but Supervisor Felder would like to emphasize that if there's anything we can do at all to use our office's position to support Logan, please do no"
Sidney Hollar received an 8:30 a.m. call from the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem notifying her that her son, Logan Hollarsmith, and 17 other U.S. citizens detained in Israeli prisons will be involuntarily deported within 24 hours. The embassy contact said the plane’s landing location is unknown but will not be in the United States, and read a message from Hollarsmith indicating he was held in a maximum security prison and could hear bombs outside his cell. Israeli forces plan to drive the detainees to a southern Israeli airport and return passports once the plane exits Israeli airspace. Hollarsmith was detained after his boat was intercepted on Oct. 2. Hollar criticized state and federal officials for limited assistance; a local supervisor’s aide contacted her offering possible support.
