Self-radicalized ISIS protesters used explosive called 'Mother of Satan' inside bombs thrown at Gracie Mansion protest: sources
"The two pro-Muslim fanatics - Ibraham Kayumi, 19, and Emir Balat, 18 - both self-radicalized in recent years and traveled to Turkey and other terror-training hot spots, law enforcement sources close to the case told The Post. Balat spent more than three months in Istanbul last year, while Ibrahim flew to Istanbul and Saudi Arabia in 2024, and made a trip to Melbourne, Australia in 2019."
"The homemade device consisted of sports drink bottles filled with triacetone triperoxide, or TATP, a substance favored by terrorists and known as "Mother of Satan" - which is so volatile that it typically doesn't require a fuse to go off. The same type of bomb was used in high-profile terror attacks in France and the UK over more than a decade."
"NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch denounced earlier reports that the device was a smoke bomb or a hoax, and said it would have killed or maimed anyone near it had it exploded."
Two pro-Muslim protesters, Ibraham Kayumi, 19, and Emir Balat, 18, were arrested for throwing an improvised explosive device at Gracie Mansion during a demonstration. Both men self-radicalized and traveled to terror-training locations including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. They admitted to watching ISIS videos and threw the bomb at right-wing agitators, claiming they felt insulted. The device contained TATP, known as "Mother of Satan," a highly volatile explosive favored by international terrorists. The same explosive was used in major terror attacks in France and the UK. The bomb failed to detonate, but authorities confirmed it would have caused deaths or severe injuries if it had exploded. The NYPD and FBI are investigating, with search warrants executed at their Pennsylvania homes.
